I finally finished Last Night in Twisted River. I love John Irving, A Prayer for Owen Meaney is one of my all time favorites, but this one was a different story. Sorry John but it dragged on and on. I liked the story, but I think it could have used a few less words.
I started the Upstairs Shawl in my Lorna's Laces Helen's Lace in Sumatra. I love the pattern but the color of the yarn might not go with it. It's looking a little tiger stripey at the moment. I will keep going and see what happens, I really don't want to frog this yarn again.
As usual, I seem to have forgotten that I own a camera, so no pictures today, but there will be some with the next post.

Saturday
I've finished Citron. It's been a while since I've finished something and it feels good to have accomplished something.
A couple of close ups...
I immediately cast on for a Moss Grid Hand Towel. I'm hoping to have a set of nice towels for guest towels, I already have one done in a different stitch pattern.
I've also finished a couple of books. Bossy Pants by Tina Fey and Deadly Decisions by Kathy Reichs. I liked Bossy Pants, I didn't love it. It wasn't as entertaining as I thought it would be. Deadly Decisions makes me want to read more from Kathy Reichs and I'm going to get the next in the series.
I'm in the middle of The Last Child by John Hart and omg I love it so far. I'm at the end of Last Night in Twisted River by John Irving, and just started Stories I Only Tell My Friends by Rob Lowe. Lots of reading going on this summer. I had forgotten how much I love books.

Bit of a break
after falling out of the kayak and having to wait for my camera to fully dry out. Camera lived, my pride did not. I'm pretty sure the story of watching me flip the kayak will be told by my neighbors all summer.
Here's what it looked like before I went over:
Today I spent a bit of time outside knitting working on my Citron. I was all comfy in my chair when I heard rustling coming from the plants next to me.
Apparently it's the best stalking spot ever and I was disturbing someone.
Then when I walked over to go in the house I heard more rustling from the other side of the plants.
There's the other big game hunter.
In other knitting news, I've finished piecing together a super secret project which I can't post pictures of lest someone actually is reading my blog and it ruins the surprise for a friend.

My name is Katie and I'm a Startaholic
I started another project without finishing anything I have on needles. I bought new yarn and even new needles to start my new project. I'm so ashamed.
My Citron:
I'm enjoying this pattern. It's easy and it's going sort of quickly, of course I haven't gotten to the parts with over 400 stitches per row yet. I'm not sure about the color though. It hasn't totally grown on me yet.
Update on the traveling sweater...still growing....
And see the look of shame? Someone decided to run away yesterday morning for over an hour.

Knitting up a storm
Almost literally. We went from sunny blue skies to cloudy, dreary and depressing overnight. Oh well makes for good knitting weather.
I just keep chugging along with my traveling sweater taking breaks to clean, run errands and revise my to-do list for my week off.
This sweater just keeps getting bigger and bigger, starting to wonder if I should have knit the other size. I'm sure it will fit someone when I'm done.
And this...I tossed the sheets down the stairs for washing while I was cleaning and came down later to find this:

WIPs
Ok so here's the round-up of what I'm working on/avoiding.
First- I completed 2 sort of crooked dishcloths this week (yay!) out of Peaches and Cream.
Ok now what I'm working on from most to least active:
Traveling Sweater (my first sweater) Woobu in Manly yes but I like it too.
Cold Mountain (my first real lace project) I'm having trouble believing this will turn into something pretty but I'll keep going and see what happens. This is made from Lorna's Laces Helen's Lace in Sumatra.
Embossed Leaves Socks made from Socks that Rock in the Sweetpea colorway
Plain socks- no pattern- Madelintosh sock in Colbalt Blue
I need to start actually finishing things. Seems like when I get stalled if I crank out a couple of dishcloths I get my mojo back so expect to see lots of those mixed in.

My favorite knitting spot
in the summer:
My favorite reading spot:
The view from the knitting and reading spots:
My garden before planting:
Spring is finally here.
Knitting pictures later. I plan to photograph all my WIPs so I have some sort of motivation to make progress on them. Can't show them off if I'm not working on them now can I?

One more week
and I'll be on vacation. I can't wait. I'm at the point where the thought of work is exhausting and I need some time away so I can recharge.
Another weekend is over and I don't have a whole lot to show for it. I did make some progress on the traveling sweater, I have 3 more sections of 4 wedges to do and the bulk of it will be done. A wedge is 15 rows of 111 stitches along with 10 short rows and there are 32 wedges total. It's been no small feat to get this sucker to this point.
I can't wait for it to be finished, both because I'm looking forward to having the sweater to wear and also because it will be my first sweater ever. I started one about 5 years ago for a boyfriend but have since ripped it out, the relationship ended before the sweater was finished.

Oh so exciting
Went and got all the makings for a garden. I got pretty flowers too and potted all of those. The garden remains in a pile next to the bed.
This is very exciting to read about without pictures I am sure. My camera shipped so in 5 days, all the millions of people who aren't reading my blog will now be able to not read my blog and not look at my pretty pictures of all the excitement in my life.

Couple Things
First, Blogger can suck it for eating my last post.
Second, I can't tell you how nice it is to sit on the porch at night and watch the river listening to the birds. If only it were May temperature-wise and I didn't need a winter coat to do it.
When I get my camera next week I'll post some pictures but for now you'll need to take my word for how pretty and peaceful it is here.
Tonight is more work on the Traveling Sweater. I don't think this one will ever end, I'm not giving up without a fight though.

Spring is Here
And I looked at my pile of UFOs. Apparently I get knit happy in the winter and don't really finish much.
Onward ho. I will finish projects. I will. I will. I will.
First on the list is the Travelling Sweater I started last August. I would like to finish it before this upcoming August.
